Stretching & Pain Relief Workshops
About Public Workshops
Workshops are a one-time event.
Public Workshops present
a variety of topics including stretching and self-pain relief and are presented in an easy to understand and easy to follow format. No
prior knowledge of
anatomy or physiology is necessary to understand and use the material in these
workshops and still get full benefits.
Other workshops explore Universal Energy and Healing
Touch. Many Workshops are hands-on, participation
events.
Public Workshops may include printed, illustrated
instructions of the material that was covered in the Workshop. Instructions allow the participant to continue applying the techniques at home
after learning them in the Workshop.

Public Talk
Sunday, October 6, 2019
2:00 - 3:30 pm
$20
Instructor: Barry Bailey,
MS, LMT, Active Stretching Instructor/Coach

14 Nason Street, Suite 202
Maynard, MA 01754
Unfortunately, everyone will experience a stroke in their lifetime,
either by having one or by knowing someone who experiences a stroke.
Guaranteed!
Knowing what you can do when a stroke occurs and immediately afterwards for
a fast recovery is what Stroke Smarts is mostly about.
Getting help FAST is only the first step to recovery. Knowing what to
do immediately following a diagnosis is just as important. The medical team
will not have time to tell you these things; they will be too busy doing
tests and forming a diagnosis and prognosis. You have to already know BEFORE
the prognosis what to do. Waiting for instructions and scheduled therapy
sessions greatly diminishes your ability to recover as well as lessens the
extent of your recovery.
FAST is the acronym for recognizing a stroke and responding to it, but it is
only a fraction of what you need to know. It’s the Cliff Notes of Cliff
Notes, and it is not nearly the whole story.
In "Stroke Smarts" I will go over the dozen or more ADDITIONAL symptoms
that indicate a stroke may have occurred. I’ll discuss the different kinds
of strokes and the possible repercussions that can be expected of each. I’ll
share my personal stroke story, but more important, I’ll give you a solid
plan of self-healing and self-recovery that you or your loved one can
initiate immediately if a stroke is diagnosed.
A STAR Tech© mantra is “Your body WANTS to be well”. The recovery and
healing power of your brain is a perfect example of this. When you have a
stroke, your brain is in your hands. It’s up to you to help it heal. This
talk will teach you how.

in the 60 minute stretching class. It will expand your knowledge of
Active Stretching, teach you how to better use it, and take you to a
place of improved flexibility, better pain relief and state-of-the-art
sound muscle maintenance.
You’ll learn ways to make certain stretches more powerful and more
effective. Each stretch will be explained as to what muscle(s) are
involved, where it/they are located, what action it does, and ways you
can execute a better, more effective stretch. You’ll learn ways to fine
tune the stretch, add to it, make it more challenging, and make it work
better for you.
You will learn how to track the progress of your stretches and measure
the range-of-motion gains you accomplish immediately as you do the
stretch.
The workshop will introduce you to new stretches
that the length of the one hour class does not permit.
Time will also be spent during the workshop fine tuning
and correcting any stretches that individuals are doing poorly or incorrectly.
Questions will be encouraged. Emphasis will be on safety, as it is in each
class.
This workshop is about better
self-stretching. What you learn in the workshop can be immediately applied in
the regular class and to your stretching at home (you DO stretch at home, don’t
you?). This is stretching you do for your own self-maintenance, self-healing and
injury prevention. It is stretching that is appropriate to share and teach your
family and friends, or to give your clients or patients for their own
self-maintenance and healing if you are an instructor or

Women are not unique in their age-related body
changes known as menopause. Men experience some of these changes as well. Many
menopausal symptoms are shared by both men and women, while other symptoms are
unique to each sex.
The male
condition is also referred to as andropause. Most men are not aware of male
menopause. This workshop is offered to bring about a consciousness and
understanding of the body changes we can expect, or are presently experiencing
as we age.
Male menopause
typically begins around ages 40 – 55, but can begin as early as 35 and as late
as 65. Each man is unique. As with women, the changes that come with menopause
for men are somewhat extensive.
The workshop
will include a presentation of facts and study results pertaining to male
menopause, with plenty of time for dialogue and the sharing of personal
experience[s] and opinions.
For both men
and women, menopause is the result of hormonal changes in the body. This
workshop is intended as a source of information and a better understanding of
male menopause only, and in no way will offer medical advice. Learn about male
menopause and its symptoms, and share your thoughts and reactions with the
group.
The workshop is
FOR MEN ONLY in order to provide a comfortable, safe, open dialogue environment.
As men frequently have difficulty discussing personal aspects of their life
among themselves, the added element of females being present can reduce this
narrow openness to zero. Learn what is happening to you now or what you can
expect as you age.

Maximum Participants:
25
