News Vol. XI, No. 1 [Below are select articles from Newsletter #18] Growing Pains STAR Tech® Healing and Learning Center Opens Exciting changes have taken place at Bailey Therapeutic Massage in the past several months. When the tenant next door to our massage office vacated their office space, Barry saw this as an unexpected opportunity to realize his long-held dream of having his own space to teach Workshops and Classes. That dream has now become a reality. A number of synchronistic events paved the way to creating and naming the STAR Tech® Healing and Learning Center at 14 Nason Street. Barry’s new Web site, www.startechhealing.com laid the foundation by offering the security of presenting workshops and classes on a regular time schedule that can be accessed online, giving all the necessary information and Registration Forms. An unexpected response to the free workshops Barry gave at the Gathering in Lenox in June germinated the thought of offering classes on a regular schedule. One workshop, Relieving Lower Arm and Hand Overuse Pain interested about 25 people. But his Full Body Active Stretching Workshop saw nearly 40 participants! When he returned to the massage office after five days of teaching and taking workshops, he discovered that his neighbor, Birthright next-door in suite 202, had moved out while he was gone. This vacancy, plus the fact that the suites are joined by an existing door, beckoned him to use it as an ongoing teaching space. The new Healing Center is dedicated to teaching people how to manage their pain effectively. Classes and workshops will be offered to teach people how to self-heal and how to relieve and prevent pain. Workshops for the public as well as for training Massage Therapists and other Body workers are already scheduled through January of next year. Ongoing Active Stretching Classes begin September 13. The STAR Tech®
Healing and Learning Center
is available for rent to other teachers and presenters. The space is available
by the hour or day when the Events Calendar is clear. ...Grand Opening & Open House ... Saturday October 2nd will mark the official opening of the STAR Tech® Healing and Learning Center. An Open House from 9 am to 1 pm will offer the public the opportunity to meet the individuals who will be teaching there as well as a chance to view the new facilities. Demonstrations and talks will be presented throughout the Open House period. FREE talks and demonstrations of material from our Workshops and Classes will be offered each half hour. STAR Tech Healing will be introduced. A description of talk topics and times will be available on our new Web site www.startechhealing.com close to the Open House date. View the “Free Events” page. Discount coupons, Special Offers and Door Prizes will be presented to welcome visitors to the Grand Opening. In keeping with the self-controlled pain-relief mission of the STAR Tech® Center, refreshments will have a pain-related theme and will include tasty food and drinks that are helpful in reducing pain. During this same time, the other health-related practitioners at 14 Nason Street will hold their own Open House Celebrations. I call us Health Group 14, a collection of independent Health Care practitioners, all located at 14 Nason Street. Members of Health Group 14 include Nancy and Barry Bailey at Massage at Bailey Therapeutic Massage in Suite 201. Suite 202 houses the new STAR Tech® Healing workshop and classroom space. In Suite 203 Matilde Flores offers treatments in acupuncture, homeopathy and Chinese Medicine. Doctor Rebecca Caplan in Suite 205 offers Chiropractic and Kinesiology services as well as Nutritional Counseling. Upstairs in Suite 305, Chandelle Hasselhoff offers self-help vision improvement training at Yoga Vision, as well as private Full Spectrum Yoga instruction. October 2 is
also the date of the annual Maynard Fest, which runs from
9 am – 3:30 pm. This is a
downtown celebration concentrated on Nason and Main streets. These streets will be blocked off. Many activities will be
going on including sidewalk bargains by the local merchants, street vendors,
flea market, rides for the kids, etc. A crowd of 5,000 is expected. Come early
to find convenient parking. We invite all
of our friends and clients to come and see the new STAR Tech® Healing and
Learning Center. KEEPING POSTED
Between January and March, Barry took three computer courses to help him become
more efficient with his new laptop. * * * * *
Barry attended the Rhode Island Men’s Gathering in February. * * * * * In February, Barry presented an Active Isolated Stretching Workshop for West Coast Swing Dancers at their dance studio in Saugus. * * * * * In February, Barry volunteered his massage skills to the skaters who were skating to raise money for the Leukemia Fund. Held at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, Massage Therapist Steve Cannon organized the Therapist volunteers for this event. * * * * * In March Barry had the opportunity of doing another Radio Show on WAVM. This year his theme was music relating to Shakespeare’s The Ages Of Man. * * * * * In May, Barry attended the Massachusetts Men’s Gathering and taught a stretching and a STAR Tech® workshop. * * * * * In June Barry attended the Eastern Naturists Gathering in Lenox for the second year. He offered two well-attended workshops. Twenty five people took his Lower Arm Pain Self-Help Workshop and nearly forty took his Full Body Active Stretching Workshop.

* * * Old Dog Learns New Tricks Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? In order to effectively promote his workshops and let people know about STAR Tech®, Barry had to have a Website fully devoted to STAR Tech®. To do this, he studied FrontPage Website design in March at Assabet After Dark Community Education in Marlborough. Within twelve weeks of taking the class, he had built a Website that would fulfill the needs of supplying the public with information for his ongoing public and massage therapist workshop schedule. Barry launched his Website July 4th, a prophetic date considering the Website has allowed him to be independent of anyone else managing information for him on the Website. Two new quick pages were added August 1st as the STAR Tech® Healing and Learning Center was being realized.
